Australia Zoo!

Yesterday, we went to Australia Zoo, which was amazing! We saw koalas, kangaroos, elephants, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, tortoises, turtles, lizards, snakes, meerkats, birds, alligators, and so much more! 
We saw Terri, Robert and Chandler feeding the crocodiles at the show. Bindi wasn’t there, because she was looking after Grace.
Apparently, I have good luck, because I was pooed on by a bird twice, during the show! 
We also watched a zookeeper walking a wombat! We did the scavenger hunt, which took us all around the zoo. We thought we were going to get lollies, because we were told to collect our prize from the Laughing Frog Lolly Shop. We gave in our sheets, and all we got was a pencil and a little plastic toy. 😞 At least we got something. We got a big cup that you could fill with whatever lollies and chocolates from the shop you wanted. It wasn’t weighed, it was just ten dollars, heaped as high as you wanted. Mum wasn’t too happy, but Cejae, Dad, and I took this as a challenge. 
As fun as this was, the animals were definitely the highlight.

We got home at about five, and quickly got ready to go to the Monaro meet and greet dinner. There was a huge line up for the food, but Mum managed to get in quickly. After the dinner, we grabbed dessert from a McDonalds, before heading to bed.

Yesterday, we took on the Birdsville track, and drove nine hours from Birdsville to Marree. For lunch, we stopped at the Mungerannie Roadhouse. On the walls there was lots of stuff that people had signed and left behind, like hats and hats and money! We also used the payphone outside of the road house to call a few people.   At about 3, we arrived in Marree. We stayed in the Marree Oasis Caravan Park. Let’s just say it wasn’t much of an oasis. Once we had set up our campers, we headed down to the pub, where we had dinner. We also gave Stephanie a little presentation for her achievement of conquering Big Red! I made a certificate for her, and we also gave her a stubby and a sticker! This morning, we had an early start once again to go to Arid Air, so that we could go on a plane over Marree and Lake Eyre! Stephanie and Russell also joined us on the plane, and our pilot was Aaron, who showed us Marree, Lake Eyre, the Marree Man, and the Willouran Ranges.  Every year, Lake Eyre has a peak

Port Douglas

Yesterday, Mum, Cejae and I flew up to Cairns, where we met Dad, who drove up. We then drove to Port Douglas. When we arrived, we went on a Chinese Junket Boat. Today, we went on a day tour, where we looked at lots of creeks, beaches, and the Daintree Rainforest. There was also a cruise, where we saw two crocodiles! This is Lumpy. This tree is called a Strangler Fig. It wraps around another tree until it dies, leaving a cool hole in the middle of the Fig. One of the beaches. At this one, we tried Green Ants. You hold their head and lick their green body, which tastes very tingly. This is at one of the creeks we went to. Our tour guide for the day, Rod, showed us out to make paint with Ochre. Tomorrow, we’ll be driving to Cooktown. Stay tuned!

The Big Red!

Today, we had a rest day it Birdsville, but we certainly didn’t rest much! Up in the morning, we drove around 15kms to see the Waddy Trees, which are apparently almost indestructible! We had at the trees, and decided that we didn’t believe that Waddy Trees are almost indestructible.  Then, we headed up to the Big Red. Dad had a go at driving his car up, but just didn’t make it!   For lunch, we headed to the Birdsville Road House and grabbed burgers and chicken rolls, which we heated up at the camp kitchen.   We planned to go back to the Big Red to have a barbecue for dinner. We had also heard that tobogganing down the Big Red is lots of fun. We didn’t bring any toboggans, so we decided to try to make one out of cardboard. Dad decided we could do better, so we headed down to the tip to find something to use. He found some road signs that were in pretty good condition, so he grabbed those. I’ve got a pretty good Dad. :) At about 3, we headed back to the Big Red with Stephanie and Russell
