The Big Red!

Today, we had a rest day it Birdsville, but we certainly didn’t rest much! Up in the morning, we drove around 15kms to see the Waddy Trees, which are apparently almost indestructible! We had at the trees, and decided that we didn’t believe that Waddy Trees are almost indestructible.

Then, we headed up to the Big Red. Dad had a go at driving his car up, but just didn’t make it!

For lunch, we headed to the Birdsville Road House and grabbed burgers and chicken rolls, which we heated up at the camp kitchen.

We planned to go back to the Big Red to have a barbecue for dinner. We had also heard that tobogganing down the Big Red is lots of fun. We didn’t bring any toboggans, so we decided to try to make one out of cardboard. Dad decided we could do better, so we headed down to the tip to find something to use. He found some road signs that were in pretty good condition, so he grabbed those. I’ve got a pretty good Dad. :)

At about 3, we headed back to the Big Red with Stephanie and Russell. We stayed there for three or four hours. We had a barbecue on our little Weber, which was really good. Stephanie decided she wanted to give Big Red a go, so she and Dad hopped into the car, and I sat in the back and filmed. It was really bumpy, but she managed to make it up first try! Next, Dad had a turn, and he made it up fairly easily, know that he was in a car more suited for the job.

We also tried both the cardboard and the signs to toboggan down one of the hills, but unfortunately the sand just built up in front of it. Instead, I rolled down the hills, which was just as fun!

We also had lots of fun watching the sunset and taking photos of it. We also had lots of fun playing around on the soft sand.

Dad also took a bunch of cool photos with the drone!

About an hour after the sun set, we drove home, and went to bed.

Tomorrow, we’ll be driving from Birdsville to Marree, which will take 9 hours, and is 510kms. Make sure to look out for a blog tomorrow!
