To Darwin!

Today we drove to Darwin. It was only an hour drive from Litchfield. On the way there, we stopped at a market. There wasn't much there, so we bought some morning tea and got back on the ride. Half an hour later, we arrived in Darwin. We are staying in Darwin for 7 nights so we put all the accessories on the caravan as well. Once the caravan was all set up, we went to The Precinct for lunch. After lunch, we came back to the caravan park and had a nice long swim in the pool in the caravan park. It was really nice because today was humid and boiling! (For someone from Adelaide!)
After our swim, we had dinner at Lazy Susan's Eating House. The food was Chinese and it was very yummy.

After dinner we went to Cold Rock Icecreamery. You chose a flavour and a few toppings and they would smash it all together and put it in a cup or a cone. I had double choc, mini marshmallows and honeycomb. (Mum said I could only have two) It was still delicious though! 
After dessert, we came back to the caravan and went to bed.

 We’ve been so busy, I haven’t posted for a while! On Friday, we went on a tour of three islands; Horn Island, Thursday Island, and Roko Island. This is the boat we went on. The water was very choppy! On Horn Island, we went to a heritage museum, where we learnt about Torres Strait Islander’s culture, pearl diving, and more. On Thursday Island, we went on a tour, where we learnt all about the locals and the history of the island. This is the Green Hill Fort. Next, we went Roko Island, which had a very sketchy jeti! We found a coconut and cracked the husk off by throwing it on the ground. Then, the locals showed us how to use tools to open coconuts. We stayed in Weipa for two days, because we decided to drive a bit further than planned again. There were a few shops, and also lots of fruit stands. To the Shack!

Today was Dad's birthday, so we gave him his present in the morning, and went to lots of breweries. Once we had all woken up, we walked down to the town to get breakfast from the bakery. Then, we had a look around the town and went to the market. Then, we drove around and stopped to look at some things.We stopped at Sunny Hill Distilery to have a drink. Cejae and I played with the games while we were there.  Next, we went to the beach to look in the rock pools and walk across the jetty. Dad wanted to go to the Pikes Brewery, so we went there.  Then we drive to Morgan and had got pizzas to take back to the shack. Once we got to the shack, we had our pizzas and went for a swim.

Coober Pedy

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, Cejae and I were very busy. We drove all day yesterday, and ended with a feed at the Big Winch. Then, Dad asked us to make a video about the dugout we are staying in. We made some of it that night, and the rest today. You can check that out on Dad's Facebook. This morning, we had breakfast at the Big Winch. Then, we drove to an opal shop. This was demonstrating how to cut and polish opals. Now, there's a bit of a story behind this one, so listen in.  Last year, when we came to Coober Pedy, we did a tour at Tom's Opal Mine. He taught us some of the basics, then all the kids went to go look for potch, and two polished, coloured opals that he had hidden all over the mine. Cejae found both of the coloured opals, and together, we found quite a bit of potch. At the end, we had the opportunity to trade it back for money, so that they could use it again.
