Another Day in Broken Hill

We started the day by heading to the miner’s memorial. Before we could have something else to eat, Mum had to check out a site for her work. For morning tea, we went to Bells milk bar. 

I had a sundae, which was delicious. 

Mum was pretty happy to find that there were lime spiders. 😂

There was an old arcade, which was pretty fun!
Then, we headed to the tiny town of Silverton, and did some touristy things there. We had lunch at the Silverton Hotel, which was really good.

We also went to the old gaol, which was pretty cool.

Then we went to Mundi Mundi Plains and had a look at the view, before going back to the caravan park. We went for a swim and had a play on the jumpy pillow. Next, we went for a drink at the Broken Hill Pub, and headed to the Chinese place for dinner. Tomorrow, we’ll be driving in Nyngan, so make sure to check for more posts! 😁

 We’ve been so busy, I haven’t posted for a while! On Friday, we went on a tour of three islands; Horn Island, Thursday Island, and Roko Island. This is the boat we went on. The water was very choppy! On Horn Island, we went to a heritage museum, where we learnt about Torres Strait Islander’s culture, pearl diving, and more. On Thursday Island, we went on a tour, where we learnt all about the locals and the history of the island. This is the Green Hill Fort. Next, we went Roko Island, which had a very sketchy jeti! We found a coconut and cracked the husk off by throwing it on the ground. Then, the locals showed us how to use tools to open coconuts. We stayed in Weipa for two days, because we decided to drive a bit further than planned again. There were a few shops, and also lots of fruit stands. This is some candy melon and passion fruit that we picked up. They were really good! For dinner, we went to the Weipa pub, where Mum bought a Keno ticket so I watched it on my iPad. It was ...

To the Shack!

Today was Dad's birthday, so we gave him his present in the morning, and went to lots of breweries. Once we had all woken up, we walked down to the town to get breakfast from the bakery. Then, we had a look around the town and went to the market. Then, we drove around and stopped to look at some things.We stopped at Sunny Hill Distilery to have a drink. Cejae and I played with the games while we were there.  Next, we went to the beach to look in the rock pools and walk across the jetty. Dad wanted to go to the Pikes Brewery, so we went there.  Then we drive to Morgan and had got pizzas to take back to the shack. Once we got to the shack, we had our pizzas and went for a swim.

Coober Pedy

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, Cejae and I were very busy. We drove all day yesterday, and ended with a feed at the Big Winch. Then, Dad asked us to make a video about the dugout we are staying in. We made some of it that night, and the rest today. You can check that out on Dad's Facebook. This morning, we had breakfast at the Big Winch. Then, we drove to an opal shop. This was demonstrating how to cut and polish opals. Now, there's a bit of a story behind this one, so listen in.  Last year, when we came to Coober Pedy, we did a tour at Tom's Opal Mine. He taught us some of the basics, then all the kids went to go look for potch, and two polished, coloured opals that he had hidden all over the mine. Cejae found both of the coloured opals, and together, we found quite a bit of potch. At the end, we had the opportunity to trade it back for money, so that they could use it again.
