Charleville

Today, there were no Monaro events, because it ended yesterday. To see what we did, you can watch my video at:

We drove from Toowoomba to Charleville today. It took about 7 hours! When we finally got to Charleville, we went to a Bilby experience. The lady there was VERY full on. I got to feed the bilbies, which was pretty cool.
After that, we set up the caravan, and grabbed dinner from the IGA. Then, we went to bed.

Port Douglas

Yesterday, Mum, Cejae and I flew up to Cairns, where we met Dad, who drove up. We then drove to Port Douglas. When we arrived, we went on a Chinese Junket Boat. Today, we went on a day tour, where we looked at lots of creeks, beaches, and the Daintree Rainforest. There was also a cruise, where we saw two crocodiles! This is Lumpy. This tree is called a Strangler Fig. It wraps around another tree until it dies, leaving a cool hole in the middle of the Fig. One of the beaches. At this one, we tried Green Ants. You hold their head and lick their green body, which tastes very tingly. This is at one of the creeks we went to. Our tour guide for the day, Rod, showed us out to make paint with Ochre. Tomorrow, we’ll be driving to Cooktown. Stay tuned!

Horn Island, Thursday Island, and Roko Island.

 We’ve been so busy, I haven’t posted for a while! On Friday, we went on a tour of three islands; Horn Island, Thursday Island, and Roko Island. This is the boat we went on. The water was very choppy! On Horn Island, we went to a heritage museum, where we learnt about Torres Strait Islander’s culture, pearl diving, and more. On Thursday Island, we went on a tour, where we learnt all about the locals and the history of the island. This is the Green Hill Fort. Next, we went Roko Island, which had a very sketchy jeti! We found a coconut and cracked the husk off by throwing it on the ground. Then, the locals showed us how to use tools to open coconuts. We stayed in Weipa for two days, because we decided to drive a bit further than planned again. There were a few shops, and also lots of fruit stands. This is some candy melon and passion fruit that we picked up. They were really good! For dinner, we went to the Weipa pub, where Mum bought a Keno ticket so I watched it on my iPad. It was very

Cooktown, Trevathan Falls, and Lion’s Den

In Cooktown, we drove up a big hill, which Captain Cook surveyed. We also went to the Trevathan Falls, which were really sketchy and didn’t have any signs. We had to climb over lots of rocks to get there, Dad says we are part mountain goat! It was definitely worth the trek! We stayed in Lion’s Den, which has a really cool roadhouse. People write their names all over the walls and stick up their caps and shirts. See if you can spot Chevy & Crew! On the next day, we drove all the way to Moreton Telegraph Station, which was a little bit further than we planned. We also stuck our new sticker onto the camper trailer.
